Skil Cordless Twin Pack
SKIL Power Tools is a brand of electric power tools and accessories headquartered in Naperville, Illinois. It is a subsidiary of Chervon, a Chinese company based in Nanjing.
The company now caters to the do-it-yourself consumer, but it used to manufacture professional construction-grade power tools, which are now sold through their subsidiary, SKILSAW.
SKIL can trace its roots back to Edmond Michele’s invention of the circular saw in 1924, which led to the development of the SKILSAW circular saw Model 77 in 1937. The Model 77, now known as “the saw that built America,” established the industry standard for handheld worm-drive circular saws, which is still in production almost unchanged today. Portable is an example of a genericized trademark.
